Law Week @ your library
This week is Law Week – designed to promote awareness and a wider understanding of the legal and justice system. It is also a chance to highlight the free state-wide service Find Legal Answers based in public libraries and on the internet. Every public library in NSW has a Find Legal Answers Tool Kit, a collection of easy-to-read, practical books on the law. These books are carefully selected and regularly updated by specialist librarians in the State Library of NSW. Find Legal Answers can help you make informed decisions about your legal issue and understand your legal rights and responsibilities about a wide range of everyday legal situations including debt, tenancy, family law, strata living, neighbourhood problems, and wills. The Find Legal Answers website at www.legalanswers.sl.nsw.gov.au guides you through online information as well as showing you what is available in your local library. Find Legal Answers can also help you find free legal advice services if you need to speak to a lawyer.
If you want more detailed information about your legal problem you can contact the Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC), a law library based in the State Library of NSW. The service is an initiative of the State Library of NSW and the Law Foundation of NSW, jointly funded by the Library and the Public Purpose Fund.
