Drug Action Week BBQ then guest speaker on alcohol advertising
Enjoy a BBQ on Tuesday 24 June from 11am 2pm at the Art Gallery Forecourt, in front of Orange City Library, Byng Street, Orange. Come along and enjoy the sausage sizzle to mark Drug Action Week and drug info @ your library. Stay for the guest speaker Professor Sandra Jones, Director of the Centre for Health Behaviour and Communication Research at 2pm to 3.30pm talking about alcohol advertising and all the issues. Don't wait for the politicians to decide, hear from an expert and make up your own mind. Learn more about drug info @ your library: up to date information on alcohol and drugs, easy to read, accurate, in English and other languages, online and at your public library. As the Crow Flies at Forbes and Orange
Be entertained. Central West Libraries is proud to present a true blue Aussie performance by entertainer Geoffrey Graham. Titled As the Crow Flies, Geoffrey performs a celebration of larrikins, legends and fair dinkum entertainment combining music, comedy and verse. It is a salute to our identity and heritage. He will be appearing at Forbes Library on Thursday 12 June at 10.30am, and Orange City Library on Thursday 12 June at 2pm. Jane Austen Society President Susannah Fullerton guest speaker at Orange
Discover more about the life and works of Jane Austen at a talk to be presented by President of the Jane Austen Society of Australia, Susannah Fullerton, on Sunday, 1 June from 3pm to 4.30pm at Orange City Library. Susannah is a knowledgeable speaker and has written extensively about the famous British author publishing two books: Jane Austen & Crime and Jane Austen Antipodean Views. Jane Austen & Crime examines the relationship between Georgian crime and the novels of Jane Austen including elopement, duelling, poaching, theft and even murder which all appear in Jane Austen's writings. Guests will be able to ask Susannah questions about Jane Austen, her life and works and refreshments will be served. The event is free but please RSVP to Orange City Library by calling 6393 8132.
Arthur chosen for National Simultaneous Storytime at 11am
Enjoy the wonderful story of Arthur written by Amanda Graham and illustrated by Donna Gynell during National Simultaneous Storytime today Wednesday 21 May at 11am. The book is about Arthur, a dog in a pet store desperately wanting a home but nobody seems to want him. He imitates all the other pet shop animals in the hope of being bought but just when he has given up hope a little girl buys him….. a gorgeous timeless story and the event reminds everyone about the joy of reading.
