Storytime Bookings now open

A new booking system has been introduced for Storytime during Term 2 at Orange City Library. Due to overcrowding in the past and difficulties for everyone attending to listen to the stories being read, we are restricting numbers to 25 children per session.

Bookings open at 10am on the Monday of the week before you plan to attend. Please make your bookings in person or call the Library on 6393 8132. We do expect it will take a little time for everyone to get used to making a booking and planning ahead but it will help children, parents and carers enjoy their reading experience at Storytime in the Library.

Storytime is held each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during School Term;
Recommended age is 3 – 5 years;
Storytime starts promptly at 11am, latecomers will not be admitted;

Incy Wincy Spider Guest at Storytime

Can you sing “Incy Wincy Spider? What about the hand actions? We had a special guest at Storytime this week – Incy Wincy Spider herself/himself (itself?) making an appearance for this popular nursery rhyme that is sure to engage both children and adults. The story goes Incy Wincy Spider had an adventure with a water spout – maybe she/he/it, came from yesterday's storm? Wincy is pictured meeting up with Librarian Peter. You can join in Storytime on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during school terms for a prompt 11am start to sing a song, hear a story, and have great fun!

The Gruffalo visits Storytime this week

The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is one of the most popular story books in the world. And children at Orange City Library's Storytime were delighted to see The Gruffalo today. The Gruffalo returns tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday (3rd and 4th March) at 11am for more storytelling and craft. Pictured is The Gruffalo meeting Sophie during the craft session where children enjoyed making their own Gruffalo masks. He really is a friendly fellow who doesn't mind children patting his tail. So come along and join in the fun of this monster and mouse story. You can also see a performance of The Gruffalo at Orange Civic Theatre on Wednesday 19 May 12.30pm or 6.30pm, Thursday 20 May 10am or 12.30pm. Contact the Theatre on 6393 8111 for more information.

Preschool Storytime Returns Tues 2nd Feb

Storytime is a fun way to encourage children under the age of six to be interested in books and reading. Storytime returns to Orange City Library on Tuesday 2 February at 11am. It is held during schools terms on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at 11am. Each session lasts about 45 mins. Pick a day you would like to come along, the same three stories and craft are usually repeated for each session so it doesn't matter which day you choose. Stories and craft are held in the Children's area of the library and there are also floor cushions and chairs. Preschool Storytime is free and helps prepare children for the school environment. And a reminder – reading to children at least 10 minutes a day helps with developing language and listening skills. Please note: As part of Slow Summer Celebrations Storytime will be held in Robertson Park from Tuesday to Thursday 9th – 11th February 9 – 11 at 11am. Meet at the bandstand. See you there!
