Cooking by the book

Our own Home Cook Hero Orange City Librarian Liz Barry was recently featured in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Living section her culinary skills have not gone unnoticed by staff and volunteers here as well as visiting guests including authors. Liz reckons she could open her own cookbook shop with the collection she has at home. Your local library has plenty of cookbooks to inspire you too. Here is the link to read the article from May 20 and why not try the recipe.

Arthur chosen for National Simultaneous Storytime at 11am

Enjoy the wonderful story of Arthur written by Amanda Graham and illustrated by Donna Gynell during National Simultaneous Storytime today Wednesday 21 May at 11am. The book is about Arthur, a dog in a pet store desperately wanting a home but nobody seems to want him. He imitates all the other pet shop animals in the hope of being bought but just when he has given up hope a little girl buys him….. a gorgeous timeless story and the event reminds everyone about the joy of reading.

Discover your local library

Here is a thought from the UK National Year of Reading by author Anthony Horowitz and spot on for Library and Information Week. “There's a building quite close to you where many murders have been committed. Secret agents have been found there, aliens have invaded, love has conquered, several wars have been fought, rings of power have been hidden, witches have been burned and great lives have been lived. If you haven't discovered your local library, you're missing out on a whole universe of imagination, adventure and knowledge…All of which is absolutely free. And they have newspapers, magazines and DVDs too! Libraries are really so wonderful that it's quite easy to forget they're there. Join today!
