Work Experience Gives Behind the Scenes Insight

“Hi, my name is Kayla and I'm currently just studying my first term of year 12 at the Orange TAFE campus. In my year 11 Business Services Cert 3 TVET class, we were required to do one week of work placement in an office environment, so I chose the Orange City Council and Orange City Library to do mine.
For the first two days, the 25th and 26th of October, I was at the Orange City Council and I met all the lovely, friendly staff in the Treasury department who were very welcoming. I was introduced to most of them and I spent around and hour maybe longer in different sections. It was all very interesting, I did filing and on my second day I typed up invoices which was easier than I thought and I was surprised that I got it all right and didn't make a mistake.

From the 27th to the 29th of October, my last three days of my week of work placement, I was at the Orange City Library upstairs in the administration. I really enjoyed it there as everyone were so nice and it was a caring environment to be in. I got the chance to also write a book review on one of my favourite books which I was told was great and I was proud of that.
I appreciate everyone taking time out from their busy schedules to allow me to experience working in a business environment. With working at the library I felt like that was a place I could work in to earn money before I head off to University or Film School because I enjoy books and I love the library. So thank you for everyone who gave me such a good experience here.”

Thank you too Kayla for your hard work and being our guest blogger!
