Sustainable Shopping Challenge – almost winners!

By September 7, 2011No Comments

We did the research, prepared the menu plan, the shopping list, came in under budget and shopped sustainably – but it wasn't quite enough to win this year's challenge. Jan, Liz and Peter worked calmly under pressure representing Orange City Library during the Sustainable Shopping Challenge held at Woolworths as part of this year's Orange Sustainable Living Week. The team had fun and learnt lots while they shopped for an imaginary family of four with a set budget. Every dollar you spend has an impact on the planet so the choices we make can have a difference. The Library team was beaten by half a point by Orange Community Services in the first round with Orange Credit Union also doing well. The ultimate winners were the Orange Ex-Services Club team. The Library has donated its prizemoney to Orange Community Kitchen. Well done to everyone involved!
