ABC Book Club Returns 6pm Sundays

 

The ABC Book Club is back for another year with a brand new time, Sundays 6pm on ABC. This week Jennifer Byrne and panelists Marieke Hardy and Jason Steger are joined by best-selling author Graeme Simsion and comedian Kitty Flanagan. Join them as they count down the top 10 classic beach books of all time.

It is with a heavy heart we inform you that former Forbes Mayor and former Deputy Chair of the Central West Libraries Committee, Cr Ron Penny, has passed away. Cr Penny was committed to his community, holding many other voluntary roles and attending meetings on a regular basis. His passion for Forbes, warmth and friendliness will be sadly missed.

 

Introducing Storybox....Online Reading Room

 

 

 

Our online reading room – Storybox – is now available on the Central West Libraries website. Storytime participants this week have enjoyed stories being read to them by well known Australians on the big screen and heard stories illustrated by Orange’s own Freya Blackwood designed for pre-schoolers age 3 to 5 years. Storybox is a great resource for parents, carers, Librarians and teachers and anyone who wants to enjoy being read a story.

Storytime with Storybox is getting rave reviews. This week we are introducing Storybox at our Storytime sessions 11am Wednesday and Thursday. We’d like you to think of Storybox as an online ‘reading room’. It’s a place where the wonderful world of Australian Children’s Literature is on permanent show and library members can access it online.  We’ll be featuring Maudie and Bear read by Emma baker written by Jan Ormerod with illustrations by local artist Freya Blackwood.
