Celebrity wordsmith David Astle will be hosting a cryptic crossword workshop at Orange City Library on Friday 17 July at 2pm. Cost $25. Then on Saturday 18 July he will be the keynote speaker at the Readers and Writers Festival at the Hotel Canobolas talking about his writing including The Book of Miles about the moving of Old Tallangatta as well as the dilemmas and pitfalls of capturing truth in fiction. This same project sparked a suite of poems that won the Banjo Paterson Poetry Prize.  His first novel, Marzipan Plan, was  shortlisted for the Miles Franklin award. He is the author of numerous short stories and poems and  cryptic crossword creator for several newspapers. Tickets for the day long festival are $60 from Orange City Library.
