Children had a great time enjoying circus entertainment provided by the Orange High School Circus Troupe at Orange City Library Storytime. They will be back for a session on Thursday at 11am. No bookings required. The audience included acrobats, fairies, strongmen, clowns, ringmasters, tigers and other circus animals as many of the children took the opportunity to dress up. Congratulations to all involved.

Pageturners Read The Best of Adam Sharp

A novel about love, music and coming to terms with the past, from the author of the international bestseller The Rosie Project. On the cusp of fifty, Adam Sharp has a loyal partner, earns a good income as an IT contractor and is the music-trivia expert at quiz nights. It’s the lifestyle he wanted, but something’s missing.

Two decades ago, on the other side of the world, his part-time piano playing led him into a passionate relationship with Angelina Brown, who’d abandoned law studies to pursue her acting dream. She gave Adam a chance to make it something more than an affair—but he didn’t take it. And now he can’t shake off his nostalgia for what might have been.

Then, out of nowhere, Angelina gets in touch. What does she want? Does Adam dare to live dangerously? How far will he go for a second chance?

Come along to Pageturners Book Discussion Group on Wednesday 14th December at 5.30pm to talk about The Best of Adam Sharp by Graeme Simsion.

November Good Reading

Read about books and reading in the latest edition of Good Reading magazine available online to Central West Libraries members. Rural-gothic writer Anna Romer tells us about Victoria’s haunted Otway Coast and the power of fear in her new novel, Beyond the Orchard, which centres on the cobwebbed secrets of Bitterwood Estate.  NSW Senior Crown Prosecutor Mark Tedeschi tells us about his  new investigation of a trial that shaped Australia, and we find out which satirical sketches have been included in Best Australian Cartoons 2016. All this plus fiction, non-fiction and children’s book reviews.

Olive and Lisa

Children were surprised when author Lisa Limbrick read a chapter from her book Tom Topp and the Great Adventure Swap at Orange City Library and lemons, king prawns and peas flew into the audience (they were really lollies) just like in the story. Lisa spoke about her love of writing, quirky sense of humour and take home messages from the book. Children were enthralled and delighted. Thank you for visiting Lisa.
