Orange Library children’s activities

Storytime

When: Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 11.00 – 11.45 during school term
Ages: 3-5
Storytimes at Orange City Library are lots of fun. We read stories, sing songs, play games and do craft. They are held during the school term and cater for preschool children and their carers.
Storytime is free and each session lasts approximately one hour. Tuesday’s programme (book and craft) is repeated on Wednesday and Thursday.

Ten Minutes a Day

When: 8 weeks during school term on Monday, 10.45 – 11.15
Ages: 0-18 months
Ten Minutes a Day is a series of workshops that you share with your child of 0-18 months that will help you develop skills to enhance language development, develop pre-literacy skills, stimulate imagination, and make reading to your child part of your everyday routine.
Each workshop will include a range of activities including rhymes, songs and simple stories; as well as tips for parents on how to include these into their routines at home.
They are also about having fun with reading, rhymes and games!

1, 2, Books!

When: Every Monday and Tuesday 10.15 – 10.45 during school term
Ages: 1-2
In 1, 2 BOOKS! we read books, sing and play to encourage engagement with language and literacy.  1, 2 BOOKS! builds upon the skills introduced during the Ten Minutes a Day workshops, focusing on older babies, aged 1 and 2 years.

Each session includes rhymes, action songs, finger plays and stories an interactive way for parents and carers to introduce babies ages 0-2 years, to the fun of sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and stories. Sessions are lively and stimulating for both babies and parents.

Music for Little Ears

When: 6 weeks each school term on Wednesday and Friday, 10.00—10.20
Ages: 2-5
Sessions initiate little ears to classical music, singing, percussion, dancing and musical games.
In partnership with the Orange Regional Conservatorium.

** COVID-19 GUIDELINES **

  • Due to Covid-19 restrictions all children’s sessions are limited to 14 places, including children and their parents/carers. You will need to book a place for each member of your party.
  • If you or your child are sick, you must not attend, as you could endanger all Library visitors.
  • Spaces are very limited. If you cannot attend please cancel via Eventbrite, so that your spot can be offered to those on the waitlist.
  • Hand sanitisers must be used upon entry.
  • Books/instruments/pencils/glue/scissors are not to be shared and will be collected and sanitised by staff after each session.
  • Social distancing guidelines of 1.5m must be respected. Parents/carers are responsible for preventing the children in their care from breaching these guidelines.
  • Participants who do not follow these guidelines will be asked to leave the session by Library Staff.
