24 Hour Read Thank You

24 Hour Read Thank You

24 Hour Read Thank You

What a whirlwind 24 Hours! We were busy taking photos and uploading throughout the night thanks to our keen facebookers!!! We love all your photos and comments. It was fabulous to see such a wide variety of people reading in all different places. And how good are the “reading” x-ray images? The children, the pets, those naughty bears? The early birds, schoolchildren, the gym goers and people at home, local clubs, and in their workplace and those reading to others! We really appreciate everyone’s efforts to show the Central West is a reading community, reading is fun and just ten minutes reading a day can really make a difference to a child and help develop skills for life. Photos are going to be coming in for a little while yet and you can view them at www.facebook.com/CWLibraries. Keep reading everyone!

Meet Wattle Creek author Fiona McCallum

Get Reading! Meet Best Selling author Fiona McCallum

Meet Wattle Creek author Fiona McCallum

Meet author Fiona McCallum at Orange City Library, 147 Byng Street, Orange tomorrow Tuesday – 11 September at 12.30pm. Fiona’s passion for writing has taken the Farm Lit genre by storm. With two bestsellers in the span of a year, and a highly anticipated third novel this year, Fiona’s already reached # 2 in her genre and Wattle Creek is her next exciting instalment.

The deeply moving Wattle Creek was released this year and has been chosen for the September Get Reading! program – 50 books you can’t put down. As part of the program Fiona will be visiting Orange to talk about her writing. Fiona is now the #2 Farm Lit author in Australia, behind the well-established Rachel Treasure, an incredible feat for an author in only her second year of publication. With her down-to-earth style and vivid rural settings, people are feeling a genuine connection to Fiona’s characters and stories. Bring your lunch and see you there!

Mitch and Ellie with their reading choices

What are you Reading ? Ellie and Mitch chose....

Mitch and Ellie with their reading choices

For the National Year of Reading we are asking Library customers what book they have chosen and why. Most recently we asked Mitchell, 9, and he selected Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney because it is humourous and has pictures! While Ellie, 7, was pleased to see her favourite character Garfield and picked out a couple of books including Garfield weighs his options by Jim Davis. She chose to read this one because it is so funny. Happy reading! (and chuckling).

Jill and Amelia choose a book at the Library

National Year of Reading - What are you reading?

Jill and Amelia choose a book at the Library

In this – the National Year of Reading – we are catching up with visitors to Library to find out what they are choosing to read and why. At Storytime Jill selected this book for young Amelia called How to Clean your Room because she thought it might be fun to have a laugh about a messy room! What are you reading?
