Local Author Mark Filmer: Three Steel Teeth

Former local journalist Mark Filmer has documented the industrial chaos that beset the wool industry when a small group of rebel shearers sought to overturn the ban on wide-toothed shearing combs. Pageturners September Read

Love reading? Each month we discover different authors, topical themes and thought-provoking reads. We will be talking about bestselling novelist Barbara Kingsolver and her award-winning novel from 5.30pm – 7pm at Orange City Library on Wednesday 11th September. Summer Reading Club

Register for Summer Reading Club from December through to January at any branch – Blayney, Canowindra, Cowra, Forbes, Manildra Molong and Orange. AND register online.

This year’s theme is Curious Creatures.

Read books, get rewards!  Read 10 books to receive a rewards card and go in the draw for major prizes. For children, pre-school to highschool.

Get a bookmark with registration. Read 10 books and tick your bookmark off. Every ten books read will receive a rewards card and be entered into the draw for prizes. And join in the activities online for pre-schoolers, primary students and highschoolers. There is no cost to participate in the Summer Reading Club. Enjoy!

 

Author PD James dies aged 94 years

Author P D James dies aged 94

Author P D James

P D James, writer of over 20 novels had died aged 94 at her Oxford (UK) home.  Known for her crime fiction, including those featuring Adam Dalgliesh, she was revered by many published and aspiring authors and only last year started writing another detective story.  A favourite among library readers, her books have translated into many languages, turned into audiobooks and been adapted into film and television series.  Her mystery inspired by “Pride and Prejudice“, “Death comes to Pemberley” is showing on ABC TV.
