Pat on the Back for Blue Ladies

Congratulations to Blue Ladies at Orange Base Hospital featured in the current edition of the Central West Photo News for this week's Pat on the Back. The photo shows volunteers Thelma Grant, Cheryl Lobsey and Karen Blacklow and Marion Patteson presenting a book to Emma and her daughter Ali. As the article says the women give new books to bubs and their parents with support from Orange Credit Union, Book City and Central West Libraries. So far they have given away more than 4,500 books as part of the Take Time Take Ten program encouraging parents to spend ten minutes a day reading to their babies to help them develop literacy and language skills. The Blue Ladies never sit still because as well as presenting books they support patients in need, looking after washing, helping midwives, taking care of flowers and managing the hire of baby capsules. They are always busy and looking for more volunteers so contact the hospital if you would like to help.
