A talk on domestic violence during Law Week highlighted a new “It Stops Here” framework to help agencies and support services in Orange work together to help protect those people facing a serious threat to their safety.

Central West Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service Coordinator, Penny Dordoy, said Domestic Violence includes not just physical assaults. It includes verbal, psychological, mental and emotional abuse; stalking; harassment; financial abuse and manipulation; denial of freedom and choice and control of access to family and friends.

Senior Constable Granton Smith said they are trying to prevent Domestic Violence homicides by identifying those at greatest risk. It’s about men taking responsibility for their behaviour and the community taking responsibility.
