It was standing room only today for Cowra Library’s first monthly story time for the year. More than 25 children attended along with many Mums, Dads, Nans and Carers. Everyone was actively involved in dance and craft after a selection of adventure tales were read aloud. A few big ones were told too by some of the regulars. A few true too – one family was marooned on the Lachlan River in a boat during the holidays and had to be rescued by the SES.

It was a great way to wrap up the Summer Reading Club in Cowra as many of these Storytimers had participated in the programme. Original ” Paddington Bear” adventures were popular along with Snugglepot and Cuddlepie proved popular. We also revisited in passing conversation with the Nannas – Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. The boys loved The Night Pirates today. The other favorite was an Elephant and Piggie book called There is a Bird on Your Head.

A big thank you must be extended to all the grownups for being so patient and helpful – there were feathers and tails fluttering everywhere except on the actual pages provided. One little man left with a crocodile tail stuck to his behind…..

We look forward to next month when we’ll be celebrating the Festival of International Understanding at Storytime with guest nation this year being Korea.
