Reading aloud to a child Ten Minutes a Day is all it takes to make a difference to their future. Today we launched a program with resources for parents and carers and for library staff. We said a huge THANK YOU to Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation for sponsoring the program and The Smith Family for auspicing it. Pictured above are Library Manager Jan Richards, Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation Executive Officer Jason Bourke, and Rebecca Sobczak and Sarah Donoghue from The Smith Family with books and finger puppets from the resource kits. Chair of Services Committee Cr Ron Gander is pictured in the second photo addressing the audience about the fun of reading.
