World War I Blog

The Centenary of World War One in Orange blog commemorates more than 1,800 servicemen and women from the district who volunteered to serve in WWI.

The blog was launched in January 2013, and since then has received more than 80,000 views. Currently the blog averages 125 views per day. Most of these views are from people in Australia, but people in New Zealand, the UK, US, Canada and South Africa are regular visitors to the website.

When Central West Libraries Manager, Jan Richards, presented a conference paper about the blog at the 2016 World Library and Information Congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)  views of the blog exceeded 1,000 and were from countries including Sweden, Guatemala, Hungary, Israel and Greece.

Other countries that have viewed the blog include Ireland, Turkey, Belgium, India, South Africa, Argentina, Poland, United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, Russian Federation, Sri Lanka, Norway, Serbia, Egypt, Brazil, Ukraine, Jordan, Malawi, Estonia and Algeria.
