Help needed to sew squares into rugs for Charity
Our Wrap with Love Charity Knit-in continues…… until the end of the month. And we have been inundated with squares! Today the 448 knitted squares were donated – which is enough for 16 blankets! A fantastic effort! Thank you knitters! Now we have packaged up the knitted squares into bags with all you need to sew them together. If you have time to do some sewing – a perfect way to keep busy during the cooler weather – then call in and collect a bag. We’ve been so busy sewing we’ve almost run out of yarn – so we’d also love any donations of 8 ply wool to help sew or crochet the rugs together. It is all for a great cause – the Wrap with Love charity sends the blankets to people in need around Australia and the world. See you soon!

Bring along your laptop or tablet or call by to find out more details. For further info contact ABC Open Producer Luke Wong on 6393 2542.
Morris Gleitzman had a Soccer Dream
Like most of us children’s author Morris Gleitzman had a dream. His dream was to one day be a professional soccer player and be paid oodles of cash but there was just one problem – he was lousy at soccer. So began Morris Gleitzman’s talk to school children and the community during his visit to Orange City Library. He read from his latest book Extra Time about – yes – you guessed it – a soccer star and his ten-year-old sister manager taking on the world. (Morris’ soccer dream did come true).
Morris talked about writing and answered lots of questions from the audience in an entertaining way. Here’s a photo of Morris signing books in his own Orange soccer shirt and below he is asking everyone who plays soccer? The event was supported by Collins Booksellers and Morris generously stayed beyond his planned visiting time to sign books and meet his fans. Thank you to everyone who came along.
Bring in Knitted Squares for Wrap With Love
Our knitting frenzy for the Charity Wrap with Love comes to an end by 29th August. So if you have any knitted squares at home, please bring them in so we can sew them together to create rugs.
As at lunchtime today there were 58 completed wraps in the library foyer. Each wrap has 28 squares, so that adds up to 1624 squares.
According to Wrap with Love distribution officer, Lorraine Sutton, each wrap takes 150 hours to make, so that represents 8700 hours! That’s a lot of knitting!
So please bring in your knitted squares so we can create the rugs to help people in need.
