Stuart Lloyd Author Talk at Orange
A Bleeding Slaughterhouse: the outrageous true story of the Alexandra Hospital Massacres Singapore, February 1942 uses graphic eyewitness accounts and interviews with Allied survivors and Japanese officers to piece together what really happened in the largest military hospital outside Britain on 14-15 February 1942 during the fall of Singapore.
Best-selling author Stuart Lloyd dissects the actions and reactions from both sides of the story, painstakingly and forensically understanding the causes and tracking down the perpetrators, with surprising results.
This story-driven account drips with human spirit as we get to know the key characters on both sides, and their fluctuating fortunes in the war and after. Join us to discover this story when author Stuart Lloyd – ‘the perfect storyteller’ according to The Telegraph UK – speaks at Orange City Library on Tuesday 15 February at 5.30pm. Please book your place online here or call the Library on 6393 8132.
Draw With Graphic Novelist Remy Lai Online
Do you love drawing? Want to know more about graphic novels and how to tell stories visually? Meet the talented author of our One Library One Book Kids title – Pawcasso – Remy Lai when she talks via video link on Friday 21 January at 12.30pm. This is your chance to catch up with a Graphic Novelist (and her pet dogs that feature in her drawings for Pawcasso) in your own home or in a small group at Blayney, Forbes, Canowindra or Molong libraries. These photos were taken at the Orange City Library event where children had fun discovering what it’s like to be a Graphic Novel author/artist, the process involved and learning easy cartooning techniques by drawing along with Remy Lai. Please register via our CWL events page by choosing to come along to a participating library or join in from home via Zoom (we will send you the link). Make sure you have pen and paper for drawing handy. It’s free
