Sydney Writers Festival Livestream & Local

One of Australia’s most loved forums for literature, ideas and storytelling, Sydney Writers’ Festival will livestream its headline events from Sydney to Orange Regional Gallery on  Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May 10am to 5pm. 

Prepare to be invigorated and engaged by conversations, debates and discussions featuring some of the worlds’ finest writers. Audiences can also participate in live Q & A sessions at each event, sending questions straight to the Sydney stage.

Join us for SWF Livestream and Local 2022, streamed live by Sydney Writers’ Festival and hosted by Central West Libraries at Orange Regoinal Gallery.

National Simultaneous Storytime is Coming

Join in with everyone around the country to read Family Tree by Josh Pyke (yes that Josh Pyke!) and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh at Central West Libraries on Wednesday 25 May at 11am. It is a beautiful new picture book by award-winning singer/songwriter Josh Pyke. It is a wonderful meaningful story about the building blocks of any community—our homes, our families, our roots. The story will be followed by craft time.

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

Local History Talk: Josiah Holman

 

Orange and District Historical Society presents family historian Michael Webb talking about his great-great-grandfather Cornish-born Josiah Holman, who worked at Cadia Mine in the mid-19th century at Orange City Library on Sunday 15 May 2pm – 4pm. Josiah also explored the Canadian wilderness before migrating to Australia. Michael has undertaken significant family history research and will give a fascinating talk.
