Cowra Tech Savvy Seniors Graduates
Congratulations! A group of eight Tech Savvy Seniors enjoyed their internet class at Cowra Library during the week. They learnt about emailing, sending and receiving messages and photos. After a three hour training session including morning tea, all participants were presented with a Certificate – graduating as Tech Savvy. It is fantastic to see people using the library to embrace technology.
Seniors Can Gain Internet Skills at Cowra Library
Cowra Library will be offering Tech Savvy Seniors Courses in September. We often have requests for help with how to make the most use of the internet, send emails, social media or just ways to stay safe online. Tech Savvy Seniors is an opportunity for participants to gain these skills. Tech Savvy Seniors is an initiative of the State Library of NSW, NSW Ageing Strategy, the Telstra Digital Inclusion Strategy and Central West Libraries.
Cowra Basic Computer Tech Savvy Seniors Classes will be held:
Thursday 11 September – Introduction to the Internet 10am – 1pm
Thursday 18 September – Introduction to email 10am – 1pm

Tech Savvy Seniors Learn About Smartphones
It was a full class for Tech Savvy Seniors learning how to make the most of their smartphones at Orange City Library. The program is an initiative of the State Library of NSW, NSW Ageing Strategy and the Telestra Digital Inclusion Strategy. Fantastic to see so many keen participants. Keep practising everyone.

Seniors interested in learning more about social media and smartphones on Saturday 9th August are asked to book their place at Forbes Library:
* 10am – 12 noon Introduction to Social Media (including facebook, photos)
* 1pm – 3pm Introduction to Smartphones (contacts, apps)

Tech Savvy Seniors – places available at Orange
Make the most of your smartphone or iPad. Limited places are available in the following Tech Savvy Seniors classes at Orange City Library:
Introduction to Smartphone – Tuesday 5 August at 1pm
Learn to navigate your way around a smartphone with a touchscreen. Learn to turn the phone on and off, make and receive calls, add a contact, look up a contact, and change the volume. Also learn about apps, what they are, how to download them, and their costs.
Introduction to Tablets – IPAD – Tuesday 12 August at 1pm
Learn to navigate the web using a tablet device. Discover the differences between a PC and a tablet and how the two can work together. Learn how to start up programs on your tablet, connect wirelessly to the internet and how to navigate using a virtual keyboard.
Introduction to Smartphones – Wednesday 13 August at 10am
Introduction to Tablets – Android – Wednesday 20 August at 10am
