It is Scams Awareness Week and the theme is impersonation. Did you know 80% of all scams reported to Scamwatch include some form of impersonation of a legitimate entity?
Scammers can impersonate any organisation or brand and impersonation scams can be received through a variety of channels. The State Library of NSW is a partner with the National Anti-Scam Centre for Scams Awareness Week and we will be letting you know what are the most common scams to look out for. So far this year, Scamwatch has received over 230,000 reports about scams with over $390 million lost. Investment scams is the top scam by amount lost.
