A novel of love, war and kindness inspired by a true story of medical genius and betrayal. Walking by Kim Kelly is a crisply told tale of bigotry and obsession, love and devastation, one that charts the path of a young woman finding her feet in the world, and the transformative power of kindness that drives her own ambition.

Kim is the author of 8 novels that explore Australian history, including the bestselling The Blue Mile, the acclaimed Wild Chicory and UK Pigeonhole favourite, Paper Daisies. Her stories shine a bright light on some forgotten corners of our past, leading readers with warmth, wit and lyrical charm into difficult terrain, through themes of prejudice, conflict and disadvantage – issues that resonate throughout world today.

Library Lovers Day Friday 14 February

Forget Valentine’s Day. Celebrate Library Lovers Day! The theme for Library Lovers’ Day 2020 is ‘Uncover something new’.  Library Lovers’ Day is an opportunity for library and information professionals to show off their libraries and for people across Australia to show their love for libraries.

Central West Libraries are asking everyone to share their book recommendations so you can “uncover something new” to read, listen to or watch.

Everyone has a book they’ve fallen “in love with” and we want you to share the books you love.

Write down the title and author of one of your favourite books on a card provided at the Library and put it in the box and choose a card to discover a book that someone else loves for you to enjoy.

You can also enjoy a blind date with a book and maybe find your “perfect match”.

So share the love and visit your local library – Blayney, Canowindra, Cowra, Forbes, Manildra, Molong and Orange on Friday 14 February.

Stock up on your reading, watching and listening materials before the weekend. Central West Libraries branches – Blayney, Canowindra, Cowra, Forbes, Manildra, Molong and Orange will be closed for the Australia Day Holiday on Monday 27 January 2020.

Please note Orange City Library will be open on Sunday 26 January from 1pm – 5pm.

And a reminder Central West Libraries is open 24/7 via the website for magazine, ebook and audiobook downloads. Happy Australia Day reading weekend!
